Ramadan & Hari Raya Music Playlist

Ramadan and Hari Raya music playlist. Music Press Asia

As the fasting month of Ramadan arrive on its third week, Hari Raya etches closer as preparation for the annual celebration becomes more excited. Music Press Asia celebrates Hari Raya together with our Muslim friends with music recommendations not only released over the last year but also recent ones. Let Hari Raya and Ramadan be a time of get-togethers and a celebration of love.

3. SOG x Shila Amzah – “Seikhlas Hati”

This is Hari Raya in rock & roll style merging the traditional. We can’t get over the seruling duet cadenza right in the middle of the chorus as Shila Amzah in her sunset dress belted ‘selamat hari raya’ to us. SOG’s band costumes are the culmination of the coolest Malay embroidery on sarungs. SOG reminds us of their signature metallic rock tunes but if it wasn’t the serenade of the seruling, we would have turned it off way back. Humorous and fun, we sincerely with our seikhlas hati from our editorial team in Malaysia, wish SOG and Shila Amzah, a great Hari Raya. – Soraya Efendi

2. DOLLA – “Raya Raya Raya”

A multiple collaboration published by Faithful Music and produced by Mike Chan and KalerJ, Raya Raya Raya is a song sung in Malay with an ode to rap and hip hop. Incorporating folk tunes, Dolla interpreted a fashionable demand for the Gen-Ys and Zs of our generation. Having logged six million views within a week of release in 2021, the song is a sweet, pink rendition of how every Hari Raya should be celebrated. Its music video is entertaining and awfully adorable and should be savored with delightful candies and cookies specially dedicated to Ramadan. – Yuda Haryanto

1. Siti Nurhaliza – “Lip Lap Raya”

Released by Universal Music, Malaysia’s classic songbird Siti Nurhaliza sings Lip Lap Raya in a music video produced by her very own team. Hugely supported by an audio production team from Faithful Music, its tune is another chef-d’oeuvre of a partnership that began from Siti’s early career days in the music industry. Her legendary hits including Aku Cinta Padamu and Bukan Cinta Biasa are recorded during Suria Records heyday and have extended her acclaimed status as one of Malaysia’s legendary artists of all time, and regularly as the ‘Voice of Asia’ since 1995.
