Midori seeks youth orchestra Music Press Asia

The Orchestra Residencies Program (ORP) brings young musicians together with professional artists for rehearsals, workshops and a public performance. It is about more than playing well. It is about growing as musicians, connecting with others and bringing music into the wider community.

The musical highlight? Performing Derek Bermel’s Spring Cadenzas, a contemporary work featuring Midori as soloist. Inspired by Japanese poet Matsuo Bashō’s haiku, this is a chance to explore something beyond the usual orchestral repertoire.

This is a need-based opportunity, not a competition for the best orchestra. The programme prioritises the needs of young musicians and the difference a residency could make to their community.

Applications are open to eligible youth orchestras in the United States. The deadline is 6 November 2026, midnight Eastern Time.
