Tokyo International Music Market 21st Edition Returns
Tokyo International Music Market (TIMM) is the leading event dedicated to promoting the global reach of Japanese music, serving as a nexus for music industry professionals from Japan and around the world.
The 21st edition of TIMM will take place from November 5 to 7 in Shibuya, Tokyo, a vibrant hub of Japanese pop culture.
It offers essential programs such as business meetings and networking opportunities, showcase performances, and insightful business seminars.
Last year’s 20th TIMM was attended by 130 international buyers from 24 countries and regions. A total of 3,058 people visited the venue over the three days.
LIVE Showcase
The TIMM Showcase Live has consistently received high praise as a platform where artists aiming for international expansion can perform live in front of overseas buyers, curators, and other music industry professionals.
This year, in its 21st edition, TIMM will introduce a new initiative to promote musical exchange between Japan and overseas.
The event, “ASIA DAY supported by YouTube Music Night,” will feature performances by artists from various countries and regions across Asia.

The Music Business
TIMM’s Business Seminars will be held on November 6 and 7 at the Google Shibuya Office (6th floor), located next to the main TIMM venue, Shibuya Stream Hall.
The seminars will also cover topics such as the current state of music markets in regions like Greater China and North America, the realities of the sync business, and the integration of AI in music.

Rina Sawayama to deliver keynote talk
Rina Sawayama will deliver the keynote talk at the TIMM Business Seminars on November 6. However, she will not be performing at the conference.
Rina Sawayama is a British-Japanese artist from Niigata Prefecture, based in London.
She released her critically acclaimed debut album “SAWAYAMA” in 2020 and went on to play sold out shows worldwide.
Her second album “Hold The Girl”, was selected as one of the best albums of the year by the New York Times and over 50 other music media and was the highest charting album in the UK for a Japanese artists ever.
She has received love calls and collaborated with artists such as Lady Gaga and Elton John, whom she admires.
In her keynote talk, she will reflect on her career journey and share insights into the evolving landscape of the global music scene and the importance of diversity.
Sawayama will also provide her perspective on the current state of international music and discuss the prospects and strategies for Japanese music on the global stage.
