Malaysia’s most popular female singer Siti Nurhaliza has recently released ‘Kasihku Selamanya’, a love song produced by Aubrey Suwito, known as one of Malaysia’s top music producer.
Written specially as one of the single from the original soundtrack of an horror Malay film, the song began with an eerie piano solo accompanying Nurhaliza’s voice before reaching its chorus — a showcase of the singers expansive vocal range and large orchestration and musical structure similar to some of Malaysia’s most classic Malay love song genre.
More famously known as Asia’s Celine Dion, Nurhaliza’s top and multiple platinum hits including ‘Cindai’ (1997) which received 5x platinum certification, and ‘Bukan Cinta Biasa’ (1998) are just some of the favourites from over 250 singles, 16 studio albums, 8 concert albums and 11 compilation albums.
According to a recent news report by The News Strait Times, the Malaysia’s queen of pop will be performing at The Festival Theatre as part of the OzAsia Festival on October 18, 2019.
‘Kasihku Selamanya’ is composed by Aubrey Suwito, with lyrics by Ad Samad. This is not Cranky Music’s first project. Over the last 25 years, Suwito has played a distinct role song-writing and producing, ultimately, launching some of Malaysia’s top singers to stardom; including Jaclyn Victor, Dayang Nurfaizah, Shila Amzah, Ning Baizura and more.
The single will be part of the OST for the film ‘Dendam Pontianak’/‘Revenge of the Pontianak’ scheduled for release this coming August. Directed by Glen Goei and Gavin Yap and produced by Singaporean director, producer, writer and editor Tan Bee Thiam [Fundamentally Happy, 2015], ‘Dendam Pontianak’ tells the tale of a soon-to-be married couple’s life, disrupted by the arrival of a vampire, is forced down a dark path of betrayal, witchcraft and unraveling truth of a murder in the past.
