Music4Good, an inspiring new initiative in Malaysia is dedicated to bringing music to underserved communities across the country, through its talented ensemble and unique corporate social responsibility partnerships.
In November, Music4Good partnered with climate technology company InnoCSR, which sponsored the organization’s inaugural concert at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur. The event gathered patients, their families, and hospital staff in the hospital’s lobby for an hour-long concert, providing a beautiful reprieve and a moment of calm through the transformative power of live music.
A talented group of eight musicians, including two young music students, delivered captivating performances under the theme “Travel the World with Music,” featuring classical compositions from around the globe. Pieces from Russia, the Czech Republic, Malaysia, Korea, Italy, Austria, and Germany were brought to life, allowing the audience to experience a musical journey across cultures without leaving their seats.
Words of gratitude and encouragement were shared by Erica Lam, CEO of Pantai Hospital, Sam Yoonsuk Lee, CEO of InnoCSR, the corporate sponsor, and Dr. Hyungi Kim, Founder of Music4Good. Each speaker expressed appreciation for the healing impact of music, noting its unique ability to uplift spirits in difficult times.
Music4Good’s mission is to make the arts accessible to communities in need, particularly those with limited exposure to the arts. InnoCSR’s CEO, Sam Yoonsuk Lee, shared that supporting the concert aligns closely with his company’s dedication to meaningful social impact and encourages other corporations to explore this as one of their CSR activities.
The organization offers two partnership approaches, where companies can choose to gift a concert to an underserved community of their choice, or opt for a “one-for-one” approach where companies can use Music4Good’s ensemble for their own event and the cost would also cover a gifted concert to an underserved community.
Dr. Hyungi Kim, internationally renowned violinist and founder of Music4Good, expressed her gratitude to the musicians and hospital team: “It is heartwarming to see everyone fully engaged in the experience. We hope to bring this level of connection and healing through music to more communities in the future.”
Their performances leave a lasting impression on attendees. As Music4Good continues to grow, their concert at Pantai Hospital marked the first of many opportunities to bring music to those who need it most.
