The OIC International Business Centre here in Kuala Lumpur has recently made an announcement. The third edition of its event “The Muslim World Rania Award” will take place this Feb. 23.
Hosting venue – Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) in Malaysia – will see multiple awards presented to recognize women’s efforts in business.
“Rania” means Queen and there is no doubt that women carry big responsibilities in their role in all aspects of human life. There has not been any known divine or man-made law that is not giving women their due rights in society.
Guest of honour, the first lady of Malaysia YB Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, will officiate the event.
Other highlight speeches will also come from H.E Mrs Latifa El Bouabdellaoui – Director General of the Islamic Centre for Development & Trade (ICDT) from Morocco and YB Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing – Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia.
Its vision for the award – according to the organizer – is to “recognize and appreciate the rights of all women around the world”. Its first and second editions have already presented awards to outstanding women in the Muslim world who face challenges along their journey to success in the business world.
The Muslim World Rania Award wants to plant inspiring seeds among the youth, especially girls. Working towards getting utilizing rights for their benefit and the benefit of others.

In 2017 and 2019, the same award was presented to numerous influential women. Among the many, they include the following:
- Datuk Mohaiyani Shamsudin, Chairman Maybank Berhad (Malaysia)
- Seyedeh Fatemeh Moghimi, Managing Director of Sadid Bar International Transportation (Iran)
- Madam Sibell Eraslan, Journalist & Writer (Republic of Turkey)

The Muslim World Women’s Summit
Originally scheduled to happen during the “Muslim World Women’s Summit 2024”, it was recently confirmed that the Rania Award will still take place even the Summit was rescheduled to another date in July.
