The Gedung Kesenian Jakarta (GKJ) played host to the Padneçwara dance company’s dance piece Kumolo Bumi on Oct 11 and 12.

Choreographed by Rury Nostalgia, the love story depicts an ancient Persian battle of two princesses: Kelaswara from the kingdom of Kelan and Adaninggar from China.

Celebrating the dance company’s 43rd anniversary, Kumolo Bumi (Gem of the Earth) is a one and a half hours performance dedicated to the Javanese literary work Menak Cina written by Yoyodipuro I.

A section of the dance rehearsal is published by Joko Sudibyo, a Jakarta-based dancer and choreographer.
