Laufey first announced her Asia and Australia tour back in early April. Announcing six dates in Asia, the Irish and Chinese singer songwriter has already sold out tickets in Manila, Taipei, Singapore and two dates in Tokyo. With Jakarta’s tickets left only for purchase, she wows us with another second show added to her performance at the Howler’s in Melbourne, after singing at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney.

This news comes after her monumental performance with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. The recording titled ‘A Night At The Symphony’ has now been released as an LP, of which consists the infamous single ‘Valentine’ being recorded in the live setting.

Just a day ago (May 16), she announced her US tour with 28 dates in spectacular venues including the Hollywood Theatre in Vancouver, Wilbur (Boston), and in cities like Nashville, Houston and Los Angeles.

Her recent bookings to perform at music festivals including the Gent Jazz in Ghent, Belgium (July) and THING at Port Townsend in Washington, USA meant that her music genre does not only cover the jazz music calendar, but also the pop world.

Just last year, Laufey hosted a weekly music show on BBC Radio 3 called Happy Harmonies, where she highlights uplifting music in a wide variety of genres.

Musically influenced by classical music, especially from her mother who is a classical violinist and her grandfather who was a violin educator in China, this 24-year-old loves jazz equally. A genre influenced by her father’s records of female jazz singers such as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.

Laufey or Laufey Lin Jonsdottir is an Icelandic singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who became popular in the early 2020s. What is the meaning of modern jazz in Laufey’s eyes? She describes her musical style, a mixture of jazz pop and bedroom pop, as modern jazz.

Her debut single ‘Street by Street’, charted at #1 on Icelandic Radio. More recently, her latest single ‘Valentine’, went viral on TikTok and has garnered over 18 million streams on Spotify.

London beckons a visit earlier 2023 with a collaboration with London’s Philharmonia Orchestra where she sang ‘Let You Break My Heart Again’.
