Keep It Local, MusicDish LLC Partner To Feature Malaysian Indie Bands

MusicDish & Keep It Local Collaborate. Music Press Asia

MusicDish LLC and Malaysia’s talent agency Keep It Local Entertainment has recently announced a collaboration to live broadcast five Malaysian Indie Bands in China. On the 16th of January, the live broadcast in the television show format will feature Sekumpulan Orang Gila, Kaya (the band), Billie Blue & The Nowhere Men, TimeMachine, and Jumero.

In an email correspondence with Monica Tong, Music Press Asia’s editor-in-chief, Jude Ashvin founder of Keep It Local explains why this partnership is important to talents in Malaysia: “This is huge for KIL and the indie bands because we get to promote Malaysian music globally especially to an audience in China. We are glad to work with a platform like MusicDish who provides a great opportunity for foreign bands to penetrate the music market in China.”

“KIL’s motto was to always champion our local acts in Malaysia but this project will help push our efforts to promote some great Malaysian musicians to the rest of the world. We are proud to have chosen our first badge of indie artist to represent Malaysia and I truly believe that all the talents involved have the potential to capture a new global fan base. In addition to that, we hope this will create a bridge for the bands to eventually have a live promotional tour in China. We are very grateful to the folks at CENDANA for believing in our vision and supporting us to build a platform that helps our local artist showcase their music to a brand new audience,” Ashvin added.

Founder of MusicDish LLC, Eric De Fontenay said: “I think that when most people think about Malaysia, they are not thinking about music. But music is by its very human nature universal, which is why this collaboration with KIL and CENDANA is so important to us. It will allow us to help our audience question their perception of Malaysia and gain a fuller understanding of its people and culture through that universal language. And that is at the core of MusicDish’s mission and why I came to Asia.”

The collaboration is supported by Malaysia’s Cultural Economy Development Agency (CENDANA) and is produced by Alicia Tan and Massive Malaysia.

Last year, Keep It Local Entertainment (KIL) joins Bunka Radio and Asian Music Day’s second edition in its ASEAN Music Showcase as part of a collaboration to expand Malaysia’s indie music to its Latin American audience.
