One Event, Three Countries: Announcement from one of the largest K-pop events of the year – the Mnet Asian Music Awards [MAMA] – organised by CJ E&M, has recently confirmed its three venues including Vietnam, Japan and Hong Kong which will take place between 25 Nov through 1 Dec. MAMA WEEK was established in conjunction with MAMA’s expansion to combine the events held in the different locations.
CJ E&M will be organising the ninth edition of MAMA this year and announcing it as the “largest music ceremony in Asia”.
The tour will start in Hoa Binh Theatre, Vietnam on 29 Nov before heading to Yokohama Arena in Japan, W Hong Kong in Hong Kong on 30 Nov and finally finishing in AsiaWorld-Expo Arena in Hong Kong on 1 Dec.
The expansion of MAMA from a one-day event to a week-long ceremony that takes place across Asia meant that MAMA is taking its expansion strategy seriously in promoting Korean artists.
Mnet began as Mnet Video Music Awards in 1999 and was held in Korea for 10 years before MAMA was established in 2009. In 2010, MAMA first expanded globally by being held in Macau and has since been held in Singapore in 2011 and in Hong Kong from 2012 through 2016. This year, MAMA will expand to Vietnam and Japan.
