Sónar, originally from Barcelona, is bringing its first edition of virtual reality and new media arts to Hong Kong.
Sónar+D, as part of the Sonar Hong Kong one-day music festival, will be hosting some new age workshop, talks and interactive activities curated to challenge the relationship between new innovation, technology, sound and commerce at Hong Kong Science Park in Shatin, New Territories.
With Asia’s growing interest in the digital culture and new innovation, this event set a precedent as opportunity for the creative communities to network and exchange ideas while experiencing some of Sónar’s riveting programming.
The Market Lab Expo will showcase the newest technologies in virtual reality and new media arts covering series of interactive installations and high-tech audio-visual performances. Eccentrically, the expo is opening a platform to research centres, creative studios and tech-focused companies the opportunity to preview new projects and prototypes to the festival goers – an experience easily accessible to previewing the entire lifecycle of creative processes.
We recommend that you check out Choi Sai-ho, one of Hong Kong’s most prominent electronic musician and audio-visual artist; Daito Manabe, the three times winner of Japan Media Arts Festival and several Cannes Lions, is also a programmer, interactive & digital designer; Fabulous Wonder.land’s virtual reality showcase inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland; Sound Swarm, a workshop by Dim Sum Labs explores the transitioning of analogue to digital creativity; XCEED’s Resonance Aura IV, a 3D kinetic light sculpture inspired by the mechanics of a gyroscope.
Set across six stages at Hong Kong Science Park, the festival celebrating music and new innovation debut on April 1, 2017. Tickets are available in two categories with Sónar+D events priced at HKD180, while full-access tickets which to include all music performances are priced at HKD780.
