2025 Taitung Spirit Festival: A Therapeutic Journey from Taitung to the World
Building a brand of celebration for the body, mind, and spirit from the mountains and sea of the Pacific to a multiplicity of cultures
Building a brand of celebration for the body, mind, and spirit from the mountains and sea of the Pacific to a multiplicity of cultures
A therapeutic brand birthed by a slow city surrounded by mountains and the sea
Surrounded by the Pacific, Taiwan is full of radiant natural scenery and cultural stories. Taitung County, located in eastern Taiwan, boasts minimal industrial development paired with a well-preserved natural landscape and cultural diversity, and in recent years, this city of slow living has attracted countless foreign nationals and locals looking for a new type of life aesthetic and balance among the body, mind, and spirit as a destination for tourism and even residence.

To share this unique atmosphere with more people, the Taitung County Government held the inaugural Taitung Spirit Festival in 2021, the first government-organized therapeutic brand for the body, mind, and spirit.
The event brings together local and international healing instructors, local communities, and the Taiwanese art, cultural, tourism, and dining industries for a series of immersive experiences against the unique natural backdrop of Taitung, creating a “map of healing” in Taitung.

42,000 attendees over four years: Taiwan’s biggest therapeutic event
Since its inaugural year, the festival has offered activities (meditative, sound wave, diet, limb, etc., therapy), guiding participants on journeys of awakening while propelling instructor training in local communities, establishing an industry matching platform, designing in-depth therapeutic itineraries, and providing support packages for those in helping professions, such as social workers, healthcare professionals, and teachers, as well as those from disadvantaged groups.
This is the first model of organized therapy for the body, mind, and spirit for such people in Taiwan. By August 2025, over 230 activities had been held connecting about 300 communities and industry organizations to more than 42,000 participants, making it Taiwan’s biggest therapeutic event.

2025 theme: Taitung, Manifesting and Abundance. Experience all kinds of activities in communities and Indigenous villages
Based on this year’s theme, “Go to Taitung and enjoy the richness of mountains and seas,” a diverse array of activities, each with cool features, was on the itinerary. Pure Heart Slow Travel, centered on communities, took place for the first time in Changbin Township and the Luanshan Indigenous community in Yanping Township.
The integration of natural scenery and local culture included immersive therapeutic experiences during which participants could slow down and feel an inner calm and awakening in the mountains and near the sea.
The Healing Workshop was a practical effort for the body, mind, and spirit that incorporated meditation, sound wave therapy, art therapy, delving into the subconscious realm of dreams, natural therapy, and limb therapy to teach participants self-healing skills and how to create energy fields with others.

With its celebratory atmosphere, the Summer Healing Festival gathered the energy of art and healing to help people mentally relax and recharge themselves through music, artistic performance, and interactive experiences.
For the Healing Salon (a new addition), reputed instructors from around Taiwan put on lectures and interactive workshops to guide participants in acquiring professional knowledge of the body, mind, and spirit and learning related skills for six days, during which nearly 2,000 participants, including almost 1,000 social workers, healthcare professionals, and teachers, attended. These four series of events are extensions of the allure of Taitung’s mountains and sea, incorporating communities, culture, and art into experiences for the body, mind, and spirit and showcasing just how rich and fulfilling the slow life is here.

From Taitung to the world: Vision for Taitung’s “map of healing”
The success of the festival lies in its international vision for healing. It not only follows global trends in the field of body, mind, and spirit health by offering a multi-tiered learning pathway from the introductory to advanced levels but also gives greater breadth and depth to the therapeutic energy generated during the event by bringing together local and international instructors.
The venues are decorated with natural and recycled elements in the pursuit of sustainability. The Taitung County Government has established the first industry matching platform of its kind to link local communities, industry, and professional healing resources, to form Taitung’s “map of healing.” The event continues to propel Taitung as a new global destination for therapeutic travel and digital nomads, so if that describes you, we offer a warm welcome!
