A list comprising some of the world’s youngest activist for climate change and other issues plaguing our world today.
To celebrate International Day of the Girl, Women of the World (WOW) Foundation’s second edition of the Young Leaders Directory has been published.
Featuring nearly forty incredible girl and non-binary young leaders, WOW’s Young Leaders Directory is now in its second year, and aims to help give these incredible activists a platform and help people discover their work.
This global online directory includes young people aged 9-20 years-old from all over the world. Each of the leaders are known for their work, both in their home countries and globally, in areas such as social justice, LGBTIQA+ rights, climate action, education activism, sexual and reproductive health and rights activism and gender equality.
The list includes:
Sunaya Amrin Rahman – Currently serving as the First Female President of Rotaract Club of Tilottoma, Sunaya is also the founding member of Vasundhara – South Asia’s largest drive on breast cancer and cervical cancer screening. Rahman has been working with the Rotary International since she was 15.
Joanne Seoyoung Lee – Founder and Executive Lead of Passionfruit, a bilingual nonprofit organisation committed to creating an accessible space for education, debate and co-creation for social justice among Korea and English-speaking youth. Lee is also the regional leader of East Asia’s Girl Up.
Emaan Danish Khan – Emaan is a nine year-old ecopreneur and climate activist from Pakistan. Khan started a climate change portal for young people called Emaanz Peekaboo to make environment and climate change education accessible to children in Pakistan.
Working in partnership with Purposeful, a feminist movement-building hub for adolescent girls, this weekend these activists will come together for two closed virtual convenings to connect, share and learn from one another to help establish a new network.
Women of the World (WOW) founded by Jude Kelly celebrates women and girl and challenges the belief that gender equality has already been achieved.
To date, WOW has staged over 100 festivals and events across six continents, reaching more than two million people. The WOW Foundation’s President is HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.
