Rock has been known, globally, in the music recording world, as one of the most popular musical genre that symbolises diverse social groups who typically carry the modern labelling of ‘cool’, ‘loud music’ and as a channel that supports social movements, usually for peace and love.
Music Press Asia dedicates HUJAN’s impressive resilience as a Malay band that continues to play a role, stylishly developing the alternative rock scene in the region and the world.
Having received multiple nominations from Malaysia’s prime music awards including Anugerah Juara Lagu and Anugerah Planet Muzik, the band made its first break in 2009 winning ‘Best Rock Album’ and ‘Best Rock Song’ from its debut album “Hujan” at Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM). An album that contended with some of the largest artists of its time including Siti Nurhaliza, Misha Omar, Bunkface, Aizat and Faizal Tahir.
And their music? Hujan is, in its truest form, music that everyone finds in their regularly played playlist, deserving in its entirety as a band shared among sweet friendships, that simple. Everyone’s favourite include “Aku Skandal”, “Kotak Hati” and “Bila Aku Sudah Tiada”.
