In a joint partnership between W Hotel Worldwide and global streaming platform Mixcloud, Future Rising brought together a diverse group of creatives in an evening split into two key parts: an inspirational, forward-thinking evening of talks and workshops of local innovators followed by a specifically curated late night party.
It kicked off its Hong Kong’s edition with a key highlight featuring a workshop and AV showcase by Delf, a Hong Kong based beatmaker and DJ titled ‘Sounds of Hong Kong’. Delf focused on lo-fi beats that bridge the gap between trip-hop and trap. He took the audience through the musical journey of Hong Kong, followed by audio/visual showcase that incorporates VJ and MPC elements.
The session followed by Silk Road Sounds’ launch, releasing its latest EP titled “Chunking & Mansion”. The Hong Kong edition partners with renowned culture collective and club promoter YETI OUT to run a show of evening program featuring the Hong Kong-based DJ Tedman Lee, J Hoon from Yeti Soundsystem and MC Gold Mountain from Hong Kong’s underground rap circuit who fuses Southern Rap style with local energy.
Holding events in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Bangkok and Goa in 2018, FUTURE RISING is a creative platform that engages and champions the creative leaders – from musicians and DJs to visual artists and videographers, creative entrepreneurs and innovators.
Since early 2018, Future Rising has travelled to Barcelona, London, Paris, Istanbul, Dubai and Amsterdam, and worked with acts and publications that included Bipolar Sunshine, DJ UNER and his label Solar Distance, designer Faissal El-Malak, model Gregory Robert and magazine 212 Magazines.
