More Than an Audition: ORCA Bets on Tomorrow’s Creative Talent

Audrey Lane Damai Entertainment New Talent Search Music Press Asia

Damai International, the international arm of Damai Entertainment and a subsidiary of Alibaba Group, has launched ORCA (Original Creative Artists), a new artist development and content production label designed to discover and nurture emerging performers from around the world. Alongside the launch, the company has opened applications for the “All My Anecdotes Global Audition,” an international talent search running from 3 July to 3 August 2026.

Open to applicants of all ages, genders and nationalities, the programme aims to identify performers with strong artistic potential and provide selected participants with professional training in performance, music production and stagecraft. ORCA’s inaugural roster includes dancer and choreographer Audrey Lane and singer-songwriter DANY, while the company ultimately plans to develop and debut a new international music group.

For emerging musicians and performers, initiatives such as ORCA represent more than an opportunity to be discovered. They reflect a broader shift in the entertainment industry, where companies are investing in long-term artist development and seeking talent across borders rather than within a single market. As Asia’s creative industries continue to expand internationally, programmes like this offer aspiring artists access to professional mentorship, industry networks and global collaboration.

At the same time, an audition is only one step in a much longer creative journey. Whether applying to a talent programme or building an independent career, artists benefit from approaching these opportunities with both ambition and discernment. Understanding a programme’s artistic vision, development process and contractual commitments is just as important as preparing for the audition itself. Ultimately, sustainable careers are built not only through moments of opportunity, but through continuous learning, resilience and a commitment to one’s own creative identity.
